The latest National Risk Assessment on Money Laundering, published in December 2020 identifies Property Transactions as a key target for Serious and Organised Crime when trying to hide their illicit funds. There is increased focus on the legal sector’s compliance with the Money Laundering Regulations, with the Regulators within the sector being monitored by OPBAS. This means that firms must be able to demonstrate compliance, should the Regulator knock on the door.
